What is ADHD?

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how the brain regulates attention, impuses and activity.

It is not caused by bad parenting, laziness, or lack of discipline; ADHD is a well-established medical condition with differences in how the brain develops and functions.
ADHD commonly appears in childhood, but many people are not diagnosed until adulthood, especally woman and girls whose symptoms may be more subtle.

The Three Core Areas of ADHD

Difficulty staying focused, becoming easily distracted, and struggling with organisation or completing tasks.
Excessive physical movement, inability to sit still for long periods, or a constant sense of restlessness and "on the go" energy.
Acting quickly without thinking, interrupting others, or struggling with impulsive decisions and a lack of patience.
How is ADHD Diagnosed?

Diagnosis at ADH-Me involves a comprehensive clinical assessment. We don't just look at a checklist; we look at your history, your challenges, and your strengths to provide a full clinical picture.

What ADHD is Not

ADHD is not a lack of intelligence, a choice to be difficult, or something you can simply "grow out of" through willpower alone. It is a neurological difference that requires understanding, not judgment.

“ADH-Me follows NICE guidelines (NG87) for the assessment and diagnosis of ADHD”.
