The short answer
Private providers serving Wales list assessment prices from roughly £650 to over £1,200 (as of October 2026). An ADH-Me assessment is £895, or £1,395 including medication titration.
What a good assessment includes
- A full clinical interview covering your history from childhood, not only a questionnaire
- Validated rating scales, and ideally an objective test such as QbCheck
- A detailed written report that follows NICE guideline NG87
- A feedback session to explain the result
- A letter to your GP
The costs people do not expect
| After diagnosis | Why it costs | At ADH-Me |
|---|
| Medication titration | Several reviews while your dose is found. Not every assessor can prescribe. | Included in Assessment + Titration (£1,395), or £600 on its own |
| The medicine | Charged by the pharmacy while you are on a private prescription | Free on the NHS in Wales if your GP agrees to shared care |
| Ongoing reviews | Regular check-ins while you stay on medication | Monthly consultations for a year in the Full Support Package (£2,150), or a one-off medication appointment for £150 |
| Monthly prescriptions | Needed if your GP doesn't agree to shared care | Ongoing Prescribing, £30 a month |
The biggest hidden cost arises if your GP doesn't agree to shared care, because you then continue paying privately. Read our guide to shared care in Wales before you choose a provider.
