The QbCheck ADHD test

Most ADHD assessments rely on questionnaires and interviews, which depend on how you describe yourself. QbCheck adds something different: objective measurements of attention, impulse control and movement, done at home on your computer.

What QbCheck is

QbCheck is an online test made by Qbtech. You do it at home on a computer with a webcam. Shapes appear on the screen and you respond to some of them and not others. While you do, the test records how accurately and consistently you respond, and the webcam tracks how much you move.

What it measures

  • Attention: how well you stay focused and respond accurately over time.
  • Impulsivity: how often you respond when you meant to hold back.
  • Activity: how much you move during the test, tracked by the webcam.

Your results are compared with people of the same age and sex who do not have ADHD.

How it fits into your assessment

QbCheck is one part of the picture, never the whole of it. NICE guideline NG87 is clear that ADHD should not be diagnosed from a test or rating scale alone. At ADH-Me, QbCheck sits alongside a full clinical interview with one of our ADHD specialists, rating scales and your history, so the diagnosis rests on all of it.

It is used because it provides an objective measure alongside your own account. This is useful for you, and it adds weight to your report when your GP reads it.

What you will need

  • A laptop or desktop computer with a working webcam
  • A quiet room where you will not be interrupted for about 20 minutes
  • The link we send you when your assessment is booked

Common questions

Can QbCheck diagnose ADHD on its own?

No. QbCheck gives objective measurements that support a diagnosis. NICE guidance says ADHD should not be diagnosed from a rating scale or a test alone, so it is always used alongside a full clinical assessment.

What is the difference between QbCheck and QbTest?

They come from the same company, Qbtech. QbTest is done in a clinic with a motion-tracking headband. QbCheck is done online at home using your computer and webcam.

Can I prepare for QbCheck?

There is nothing to revise. Find a quiet room, use a computer with a webcam, and do the test when you would normally be at your usual level of alertness. If you already take ADHD medication, check with us beforehand.

Can I do a QbCheck test on its own?

At ADH-Me, QbCheck is part of the full Comprehensive ADHD Assessment rather than a standalone test.
