ADHD medication titration

A diagnosis is only part of the journey. If medication is right for you, our ADHD nurse specialists and qualified independent prescribers can support you through starting treatment, carefully adjusting your medication to find the right dose, and monitoring your progress. Once your medication is stable, we can write to your GP to request a shared care agreement for ongoing prescribing.

What titration means

Titration is the process of finding the ADHD medication and dose that works for you. Our ADHD nurse specialists and independent prescribers will work closely with you, starting at a low dose and making gradual adjustments through regular reviews. We will monitor how well your medication is working, any side effects, and how you are feeling along the way.

The goal is simple: to find the right balance, helping you get the most benefit from your medication with the fewest possible side effects.

How it works with ADH-Me

  1. Review and health checksAn ADHD specialist prescriber will review your ADHD diagnosis, discuss your medical history and carry out any necessary health checks to make sure medication is safe and appropriate for you.
  2. First prescriptionIf medication is right for you, a starting dose is prescribed and we explain what to expect.
  3. Thorough follow-up appointmentsTo review your progress, discuss how well your medication is working, monitor any side effects and adjust the dose where needed. The Assessment + Titration package includes five.
  4. A stable dose and your GPWe will write to your GP and request that they take over prescribing under a shared care agreement, whilst we maintain specialist oversight.

Diagnosed elsewhere and need medication support?

Many people receive a private ADHD diagnosis only to discover that their assessment provider cannot prescribe medication, or their GP is unable to initiate treatment. Our Medication Titration Only package is designed for people who already have an ADHD diagnosis and need support with medication. When you get in touch, simply send us your diagnostic report. Our team will review it to check whether we can support you, so you know where you stand before making any payment.

Already on medication, and your GP doesn't agree to shared care?

If you are already settled on ADHD medication and your GP does not agree to shared care, we can continue to provide your monthly prescriptions through Ongoing Prescribing for £30 a month. If you would like a single review of your medication instead, aone-off medication appointment is £150.

Medication is not right for everyone. We will discuss all of your options with you, including support that does not involve medication. Paying for titration does not guarantee a prescription.

Common questions

I was diagnosed privately somewhere else. Can you prescribe for me?

Often, yes. The Medication Titration Only package is for people with a confirmed diagnosis. We review your assessment report first to check it is detailed enough to prescribe from, and tell you if anything else is needed.

How long does titration take?

It varies from person to person. Starting low and adjusting gradually usually takes a few months. The Assessment + Titration package includes five follow-up titration reviews.

Do I pay for the medication itself?

While you are on a private prescription, the pharmacy charges for the medicine. If your GP later takes over prescribing under shared care, NHS prescriptions in Wales are free.

My GP doesn't agree to shared care. Can you continue prescribing?

Yes. Ongoing Prescribing is £30 a month for people already settled on ADHD medication if their GP does not agree to shared care.

Can titration be done online?

Yes. Reviews can be done by video, with any health checks arranged in a way that suits you.
